Unit 7.2: Bold Actions part 2 (9/12-9/30)Students will continue their understanding of the theme of Bold Actions by reading The Flight of Icarus, a Greek myth that warns of the dangers that can occur if we are too bold our actions. They will also read the poem Icarus' Flight to explore different perspectives on whether someone can be too bold in their actions. Students will complete the development of their Pioneer essay (due 9/23) and also write a Myth or Fable that teaches the theme of standing up for yourself or the dangers of taking too great a risk (due 9/30). Students will study critical vocabulary and develop understanding of how the suffixes -ty and -ity can impact the meaning of words. In addition, students will learn about comma usage and coordinate adjectives, to help them understand when and when not to use commas between adjectives in descriptive writing. Finally, students will create an oral presentation about the Pioneer they selected to research and write about during this Unit.
